James N. Clapp

James Norton Clapp (1892-1944) was the purchasing agent for Weyerhaeuser’s Everett mills.

The grandson of the founder of the Weyerhaeuser Timber Company, Frederick E. Weyerhaeuser, Clapp had his own office at the Weyerhaeuser Building between those of Edward B. Wight and Frank B. Martin.

In the Military During WWI.

Clapp was one of several of Frederick Weyerhaeuser’s grandsons to enlist in the military during World War I. He was joined by Frederick K. and John P. Jr. Weyerhaeuser, George F. Jewett and Edwin Weyerhaeuser Davis.

In Holy Matrimony.

In 1920, he married Charlotte Louise Ives in Everett. They didn’t have any children; however, James had a half-brother, Matthew “Norton” Clapp, who also worked for the family company.

A Tragic Accident.

At 52, he died from injuries sustained after his tractor overturned and pinned him on his ranch near Pasadena, California. Clapp suffered a broken collarbone and had five ribs torn from his breastbone.
