The layout of the Weyerhaeuser Building was arranged so that the front and left were occupied by executive offices, the right by the sales department and the back by the accounting and stenographic departments.

The plans, as arranged by Edward B. Wight, assistant manager, allowed for the construction of a vault in the middle of the building.

The employee entrance was located at the back of the Weyerhaeuser Building. Former Weyerhaeuser Timber Company staffers shared that while men were allowed to go through the main entrance, the women were required to use the back door.

Accounting Department.

The accounting department at the back of the building was comprised of W.W. Olwell, head bookkeeper; Walter Erikson, paymaster; and Mrs. Hyde, bookkeeper. A separate desk for the bookkeepers or auditors was placed in the corner.

Sales Department.

The Sales and Accounting departments were separated from the lobby by counters. In charge of the fuel department, Owen Clay had a desk near the counters. This way, he could meet with visitors from the lobby and yet be near the employee entrance, next to the stairway.

Stenographic Department.

The Stenographic Department was located in the back right room. Miss Crain, Mrs. Hyde and Miss Denhoff were employed there. In the back left were the men’s restroom and cloak closet.
